INFOSEC UPDATE: VIDEO CONFERENCE SAFETY

To stay connected in these unprecedented times, video conference use is up exponentially. Threat actors always look for new trends and behaviors to exploit and video conferences has stepped into that spotlight. Here are some suggestions to help keep your video conferences safe:

For work use:

  • Use Microsoft Teams unless you're meeting with a vendor who schedules the meeting from a different platform
  • Don't post the meeting link to social media
  • Use the Lobby feature for non-Vail Resorts participants
  • Schedule Teams meetings through your calendar rather than using a personal room
  • Don't post confidential information in a meeting chat

For personal use (Zoom, Google Hangouts, etc.):

  • Password protect your meetings
  • Don't post the meeting link to social media
  • Make sure your conferencing software is up to date. Updates can include security patches.
  • Some platforms allow you to lock a meeting once all participants are on the call - take advantage of this feature when you can.
