Rob Katz, our executive chairperson, was recently honored with the National Ski Areas Association Industry Impact Award for his bold leadership and contributions across the industry. We found his acceptance speech to be as inspiring and thought-provoking as our former CEO himself.
He discussed our industry’s need for growth while continuing to simultaneously invest in the employee and guest experience.
Over the past year, there was no bigger story than “There are too many people on the mountain.” Rob challenged the industry to recognize growth as a good thing, a necessary thing—especially in an industry that has had flat visitation over the past decade. He also encouraged everyone to think about how, 20 years from now, this sport should be full of completely different faces from different backgrounds. And it’s on all of us to make that happen.
