REMOTE WORKING TIPS & TRICKS | TIP #4: SET UP YOUR SPACE

Get natural light. If you can, set up your workstation near a window or in a room with plenty of natural light. That sunshine will help keep you energized throughout the day.

Close the door or communicate with your housemates/family about when you need quiet or undisturbed time. At the same time, know that your kids will absolutely disturb you. We’re all going to be this guy some days - and that’s okay! If you’re on the other end of the line, please be kind and understanding.

Check out your surroundings. With so much of our time spent on video calls, make sure your background isn’t full of dirty laundry (literally or figuratively). For added privacy, you can use the background effects in Microsoft Teams to blur your surroundings or replace them with a fun scene.

Use a surge protector. The last thing you want is for a surge to kill all your electronics. Also make sure you have enough batteries for your keyboard, mouse and any other device you use on a regular basis so you aren’t caught unprepared.

Put it away. If you don’t have a dedicated room for work, pack your work materials away, out of sight, when you’re not working so they don’t infiltrate your personal/home space.
