Celebrating Black History Month

In both the US and Canada, Black History Month is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate Black accomplishments, resilience, and determination. This month was created in response to a lack of coverage of Black representation in history, education and literature. Through this movement, the month of February was dedicated to “honor the too-often neglected accomplishments in every area of endeavor throughout our history” U.S president General Ford said. Not long after Black History month was formally established, more history was being made within our industry. The National Brotherhood of Skiers was established in 1973 with the goal of changing the perception about who belongs on the slopes. Today, the NBS organization is still leading the industry to move the sport towards a more inclusive future. Watch this quick film for their story.
