ANNOUNCING NEW GMs AT KEYSTONE AND CRESTED BUTTE

A message from Bill Rock, EVP Mountain Operations

It is my great pleasure to announce Chris Sorensen as the VP/GM at Keystone and Tara Schoedinger as the VP/GM at Crested Butte.

Chris joined Keystone in 2004 as a lift operator and quickly articulated his dream of one day becoming the GM of Keystone. His career demonstrates that with a clear focus on personal development, leadership, and embracing stretch assignments, dreams can be realized. He quickly became a lift operations supervisor, then the tubing manager/night operations manager for Keystone. In 2014 he transitioned to Breckenridge as the Sr. Manager of EpicMix Photo, Guest Service, and Scanning. In 2015, Chris became the GM at Mt. Brighton and was promoted in 2018 to lead Afton Alps. When our company created the regional structure, Chris was promoted again and has led the 10 Midwest resorts since 2019, and recently integrated seven new resorts in the sub-region. Chris is very excited to get back to where he fell in love with the sport, and his wife. “It truly feels full circle. I am excited to get back to the place where it all started for me.” Chris holds a business degree with a concentration in international business and human resources management. He loves to snowboard, dress up for Teams meetings, paddleboard, and explore with his wife and two dogs.

Tara, an Ohio native, graduated from CU Boulder with a degree in business. She joined Vail Resorts in 2010 in IT and led the launch of EpicMix, photo, racing and academy. At the same time, she was elected Mayor of Jamestown. She left Vail Resorts in 2013 to lead her community’s recovery following the devastating Colorado flood, earning high marks for leadership from her community along with state and federal officials. Tara returned to Vail Resorts in 2016 to help lead the Whistler Blackcomb integration. She has since served as Director of CMO projects for two years and as the Chief of Staff for the Mountain Division. In that role, Tara led critical functions in the return-to-work effort following the COVID-19 shutdown. Tara has earned a reputation as a strong leader who demonstrates agility and teamwork to deliver exceptional results. She loves to ski, bike, camp, and paddleboard and will be a great fit in Crested Butte. “I am beyond excited to work with the Crested Butte team! Coming from a small mountain community on the front range, there is no other place I’d want to work, live and play than Crested Butte.”

Both of these leaders, and these appointments, are fantastic examples of our leadership culture in action. Chris and Tara have proven that with agility, development focus, leadership and performance, any career path is achievable. Tara and Chris will both start on June 7, 2021.
